The course also includes Emergency First Aid and Safeguarding Children Workshops (evening sessions); additional certification is awarded for these workshops. Following delivery of the syllabus candidates are assessed through the delivery of a 20 minute game on the final day of the course. Attendance is mandatory as all elements of the course must be completed in order for candidates to be certificated.
Q2. Is there a difference between Level 1 and Level 2?
A2. The Level 2 CCF builds quite considerably on Level 1 information. The course in total is 10 days structured with a 6 day initial training week, 2 support sessions and 2 independant assessment days. This is normally spread out over a period of between 4 and 6 months to give adequate time for candidates to gather information and practice their coaching prior to assessment. There are 15 tasks (practical and theoretical) with task 16 being the independant assessment, where candidates competence is determined following the delivery of a 35 minute coaching session. Candidates must show evidence of having completed a First Aid course and FA Safeguarding Children workshops (3 hour sessions). Please remember that First Aid and Safeguarding Children are only valid for 3 years and need to be kept in date.
Q3. Can I enrol on a Level 3 CCF course?
A3. Only candidates who have gained the Level 2 CCF or equivalent can enrol on a Level 3 CCF course. The course duration is 12 days broken down as follows:
- 8 Days Initial Training
- 1 Support Session
- 3 Independent Assessment Days
These parts of the course are normally spread out over a period of between 4 to 6 months. The content of both practical and theoretical elements of the course is of an advanced level. Candidates who have successfully completed the Level 2 CCF and then go on to successfully complete the Level 3 CCF will be awarded the UEFA 'B' Licence. Candidates who do not have a Level 2 CCF but instead a Level 2 Certificate from an awarding body outside the FA can still be accredited as Level 3 CCF coaches but will not be awarded the UEFA 'B' licence.
Q4. Is it essential to have played professional football in order to pass?
A4. No, the courses are designed to develop you as a coach. They are challenging and require commitment because we want coaches to influence and develop players. The CCF qualifications cover a wide range of skill sets required to be a successful coach rather than a professional footballer and so previous experience as a player is not a necessity.
Q5. Are the courses FA approved?
A5. We became an approved centre for the delivery of FA accredited courses from Level 1 to Level 3 (UEFA 'B' Licence) in September 2004. We have exclusive status as a Premier League Club delivering FA Qualifications.
